The IGD has released a call for expressions of interest to generate discussion amongst UNSW academics on the use of research to achieve development impact.
This initiative forms part of a broader action research project on ‘Enhancing Development Impact through Research Use’, convened by the Research for Development Impact (RDI) Network and involving 13 Australian organisations.
This project aims to improve research-policy-practice links in international development by drawing together development researchers and practitioners to consider how stakeholders commission, produce and use research to achieve development impact. It will involve facilitated workshops and mentoring of participating organisations to examine their own organisational environments. These workshops are facilitated by the Institute for Human Security and Social Change at La Trobe University and Praxis Consultants.
The UNSW Institute for Global Development (IGD) is one of a handful of organisations selected to participate from across the international development sector. Dr Sarah Cook (Director, IGD), Associate Professor Anne Bartlett (Arts and Social Sciences), Dr Valentina Bau (Arts and Social Sciences) and Michael Burnside (Senior Project Officer, IGD) are leading UNSW’s engagement in this initiative.
A series of three seminars have been planned for 2020. Each seminar will give UNSW researchers the opportunity to present case studies from their body of work that has led to tangible development impact. We invite participating colleagues to share their experiences and learn constructively from each other. Key lessons from the case studies and discussions will inform a report to be produced by the working group.
We encourage UNSW staff who are interested in presenting to complete an EOI form online by 16th December.
