About Shirleyana

Shirleyana is currently a PhD candidate at School of Built Environment, Faculty of Arts, Design and Architecture at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, Australia, supported by Australia Awards Scholarship. Her current research focuses on risk and community resilience in urban informal settlements, particularly kampung, an informal type of urbanism in Indonesia. She has highly interest in working with children and community, improving public spaces and resilient housing design.

    Current Projects

    Indonesian villages known as kampung are the focus of Shirleyana’s urban analysis and development research. Her thesis aims to understand communities' risks and resilience factors and develop a resilience framework to ensure the wellbeing and sustainability of people living in kampung and the existence of kampung for the city.
